The Abyssinian Meeting House is the third oldest standing African American church in the United States. It was the "hub" of the Underground Railroad in Maine. The Committee to Restore the Abyssinian plans to restore the meeting house as an African American historical site and museum. Through research for the Historic Structures Report BCA discovered, and confirmed through paint analysis, that the original pews had been reusued in a church in West Paris, Maine.
