Pier A in lower Manhattan was built in 1886 and designated a landmark in 1975. The oldest functioning pier in New York, Pier A was fully restored in 2014 and has been adaptively reused as a restaurant and event space.
As the restoration consultant for PIer A, BCA performed archival research, wrote the alteration history of the pier, and performed an existing conditions survey. BCA also prepared construction documents and provided oversight during construction.
The restoration of Pier A earned an Excellence in Historic Preservation award from the Preservation League of New York State.
