Pittsfield Probate Court

Pittsfield, Massachusetts

BCA is the conservation consultant for the exterior restoration of the Pittsfield Probate Courthouse. The courthouse was built as the Pittsfield Atheneum by William Appleton Potter in 1867.

BCA conducted a conditions assessment and extensive field testing, including working with the contract to perform in-situ compressive stress testing to establish a restoration plan for appropriate repairs and cleaning. BCA also performed a series of investigative probes, worked with the project team to evaluate test results, prepared technical specifications and drawings for the restoration of the masonry, and monitored the construction during the complete disassembly and reconstruction of the façade.
